WING ON WETLAND COMMUNITY CENTER

 Kaohsiung, Taiwan|

The site is located in a buffer zone of Wing On wetland, Kaohsiung, Taiwan. The 150- hectare buffer zone assigned between wetlands and a power plant, currently display a natural landscape of mangrove forest and wetland ecology. The architectural design aims to submerge in its surrounding natural landscape. Foundation piles are used to reduce the backfill land ratio and maximize efficiency. Visually such design structure also offers the appearance of an eco-island, as if it is floating across the wetland horizon. The curved architectural structure separates related ecology and activity zones. Activities can be held just below the raised platform and green pasture. The community center offers a gateway that brings our daily life closer to the wetlands, at the same time shapes a new ecological landscape.
